In 1898, Finland experienced a lively period of new construction. In Finland, in the middle of forests, many new buildings were made of wood. In the same year, my grandfather, Joonas Timlin, a miller and sawmill owner, lived and worked in Alavieska, North Ostrobothnia. He had just completed his first public wooden construction site, the Alavieska Parsonage. He was responsible for the planning and building of the beautiful project. In addition, he acquired construction know-how at the Kalajoki and Lestijoki mill sites. From these building sites, the family's wood-building tradition started, which decades later, as a continuation of the family's building traditions, led to a new significant territorial conquest, the establishment of Timber-hirsi Oy, and the export of log products to new markets.
